solutions for research and analysis. Research and analysis
is itself a collaborative activity. All analysts need
access to information from many sources and from outside
experts. The requirements of buy-side analysts, who produce
and refine their own knowledge, are not very different
from the needs of outside analysts. Outside analysts in
turn need to work more closely with buy-side portfolio
managers. In this environment there is collaboration,
not only on software, but also on data and access to people.

operation. One of these, the Suprasphere product, gives
traders, portfolio managers, and analysts an instant-message
based system that is tuned to their daily workflow, and
which helps them accumulate actionable investment knowledge
in a secure, compliant form.
These tools can be used in both buy-side and outside
investment research operations, blurring the boundaries
between investors and experts.
